CORE and Global Partnership Schools Approved as a Turnaround School Provider in CO - New!
CORE, partnering with Global Partnership Schools, has been named by the Colorado Department of Education as an educational service provider eligible to assist with school transformation and turnaround efforts throughout the state. The organizational partnership was one of only three providers approved to help schools with all five areas of expertise sought by the state (organizational management and leadership, academic performance, learning environment, operations, and comprehensive planning).
CORE and Global Partnership Schools will deliver support to struggling schools with intensive on-site coaching, proven instructional strategies, and structures to promote effective teaching and learning. This support is intended to produce successful school transformation and turnaround results at chronically low-performing schools in Colorado. CORE Seeking Schools for Innovative Vocabulary Development Study for 7th and 8th Grade Struggling Readers - New!
CORE is seeking interested middle schools in California, Oregon, and Washington to participate in the final year of a federally funded research and development project. Stanford University, in collaboration with CORE (Consortium on Reading Excellence) and SRI International, received a grant from IES (Institute of Education Sciences, U.S. Department of Education) to develop, pilot, and field-test a vocabulary program for struggling adolescent 7th and 8th grade readers, including English learners. The curriculum, Content-Rich Vocabulary (CRV), includes the explicit teaching of academic and content vocabulary tied to social studies content. CORE is providing the curriculum development, implementation, and teacher training; SRI International is conducting the data analysis and evaluation. To read the full release, click here.

CORE Develops New Intensive Intervention Professional Development Suite
The California State Board of Education approved CORE's submissions of Houghton-Mifflin Harcourt's Portals and Scholastic's READ 180 Intensive Intervention professional development SB 472 Workshops. The trainings are now in compliance with Senate Bill 472 Reading Professional Development Program.
In and beyond California: To further accelerate your implementation of all intensive intervention programs, CORE is pleased to announce a new series of one to three-day professional development workshops for teachers and administrators.

CORE to Offer Online Professional Learning Resources
In an ongoing effort to build continuous professional development among school district administrators, coaches, and teachers, the Consortium on Reading Excellence (CORE) is pleased to announce a partnership with Teachscape, the leader in online professional learning. Together with intensive professional development, on-site support for reading and math, and Teachscape's online resources, CORE will be able to deliver a 24/7 professional development program for literacy and math educators that will provide curriculum support to maximize student achievement. Teachers will be able to study material at their convenience and review the information as many times as necessary to perfect skills on a topic or concept.
